Wanted: Guilty Pleasures

I’m not big on guilty pleasures. I sure do love a bunch of things I should feel guilty about, but who needs guilt? If you like it, you like it. End of story. Some of us may not want to admit our feet love tapping to the Backstreet Boys. Others may fight to the death to hide their penchant for Mary Kate & Ashley (the early stuff). Not me, I’m a proud, proud fan and I’m not ashamed. But, if I were ever to have a guilty pleasure it’d be Pretty Little Liars.
Firstly, this show was intended for girls about 15 years younger and is filled with juicy high school drama (think Gossip Girl for the early teen crowd). I’m talking anonymous stalkers texting all your secrets juicy. Secondly, it has me rooting for a terrible student/teacher relationship (one that's made my moral compass spin more than Dexter, Weeds or Sons of Anarchy ever did).

Still, there’s something about it that just won’t let me turn away. Maybe it’s that these high schoolers are more intriguing than I will ever be (and way more stylish), or maybe that English teacher is just too darn cute. Either way, I’ll keep tuning in. If your interest is piqued, check it out on Mondays at 8:00 on ABC Family.
Do you have any guilty pleasures? Do tell!

I don't think there is anything wrong with listening to BSB, but I'm a little concerned about this inappropriate student/teacher relationship. I was worried about it on Dawson's Creek and I'm worried about it on Pretty Little Liars.
ReplyDeleteYou should be concerned. At least in this case the age difference isn't astronomical (he's fresh out of college - 22? and she's 16). BUT, I will also say - don't knock it 'til you've seen it. You just might find yourself in a moral dilemma all your own.
