Most Wanted: Flea Market Finds

My reign as flea-market queen has come to an end, and I am still a little emotional when I think of all of those wonderful deals! It pays to know some shopping-savvy vendors, let me tell you.To make up for my lack of posting lately, and to hang on to those glory days, here is a summary of some of my sweet flea-market deals over the last couple of years.

This great set jumped out at me as soon as it came through the door, and I had to pull some fancy footwork out since another buyer was looking at it at the same time as me. You didn’t know I was conniving – did you? I love that it’s on the smallish side – it fits the scale of my house perfectly. I also nabbed a pair of red planters (seen on the table) and some tea light lanterns to complete the look of the porch. Can’t wait for summer!

You would not believe the deal I got on this vintage slipper chair - $10! It’s all about the people you know, trust me. I thought I would want to recover it, but it provides the perfect pop of color in my otherwise muted bedroom. Come to think of it, I procured that rug at the flea market too!

I am so proud of these gorgeous black and white bamboo chairs. They are so chic! I talked myself into buying these because, while they didn’t go with much I had at the time they were definitely the direction I wanted to go with my house. I think about these chairs most often when I’m contemplating new purchases. The mirrored table is another steal. It was originally from Target, but I lucked out with a $5 price (it has a pretty big crack right under the lamp). Speaking of the lamp – it’s one of a pair of Stiffel lamps I picked up. I think they were the first purchase I made when I moved into the house!

This is just one of the many accessories I’ve treated my house to. I think I paid $2 for this and it serves as the perfect home for my keys every day. Isn’t it fun to make mundane things (like keys) fancy?
One of my favorite flea market finds has to be the Fenton Hobnail Candlesticks. I’ve mentioned them before, but they are pretty much the start of a hobnail collection (or obsession). I lusted after a pair when I saw them on Etsy, and stumbled upon them one day while at work! Lucky me.
These things just represent a few of my favorite finds. I can’t tell you how many books, gadgets, accessories, hand-made items, and gifts I’ve packed away. After all of the scouring, negotiating, and hauling though, I think I will miss the socializing the most. The best way to learn about scoring bargains is to watch other people find them first! I’ve learned more than I ever cared to about antiques, depression glass, art, vintage advertisements, etc. than I ever cared to know. But now, I will know a good deal when I see it.
What are some of your favorite flea market or yard sale finds?
