Hello friends! I hope you had a restful and looong weekend. I had a sensational time with friends in Front Royal, Virginia. There were board games, chess bars, critters, and general merriment to boot! On Saturday we made the trek into downtown, which promised charming antique and thrift stores. I had my heart set on finding some awesome white hobnail milkglass pieces (hobnail is my latest obsession - it’s a problem, I know). The standout store has to be Changes & Architectural Old House Parts. Changes is the store-front gallery for Architectural Old House Parts, which specializes in, well, old house parts. The gallery is filled with beautiful furniture and salvaged pieces like mantels and windows, as well as work from local artists. The rear of the store is filled with rows upon rows of architectural salvage pieces (think huge doors, bath fixtures, and hardware), which were prettily organized I might add.
Check out these shiny glass door knobs. I was tempted to buy one for every door in the house. Glass knobs will pretty up anything in a heartbeat.
My favorite item is this vintage hobnail chandelier. I thought about it all weekend! I think I would paint the base silver, but the glass is in pristine condition! Alas, I am too intimidated by the thought of having to re-wire anything, and I wasn’t sure that I’d have the right space for it, as my ceilings are awfully low. Lesson learned: always carry pertinent household measurements!
Just to prove I saw some of the great outdoors on my little adventure - enjoy this snapshot of my friend Charlie. He has a girlfriend, so don't think we had a fling or anything.
How was your weekend? Were you able to retreat from the humdrum of daily tasks?

Why yes, I was able to retreat from the humdrum of daily tasks. I saw a lovely rendition of West Side Story and enjoyed an afternoon swimming in a lake. The island was kind of awesome.
