Wanted: Summer Television

It's best to get the most of the great outdoors in summer months. Drink ice cold beer on the front porch, show off freshly painted toes in the sand, and swim to your little heart's content. But, it's hot, and quite frankly I think the distance between my front door and car is an unreasonable distance to be walking. Thankfully, television can be enjoyed with the comfort of air conditioning. Summer television is at the height of awesomeness, and I would be a bad friend if I didn't mention the great shows you might be missing.
Let's start with a summer favorite, True Blood. If you ask me, the major flaw with this season is too little Eric, and definitely too little Eric and Sookie. Sure we've had a crazy vampire bromance, lots of madness with faeries and supe-haters, and some great Pam one-liners, but the vampires have been all cooped up for most of the season. What good does that do me? Luckily, I have Hoyt, Alcide, and the sweeter-every-minute Jason to fall back on. Seriously, catch up soon if you're behind. It's a slow build, but the last ten minutes of the last few episodes have been epic.

Another summer staple in my house is Weeds. Now in its final season, the show seems to be revisiting its roots to focus on a family just trying to stick together and make a fresh start. And fresh it is. The season opens with Nancy getting shot in the head, for Pete's sake! Weeds is one of my favorite morally ambiguous stories. Everyone in this family should have cut ties at some point to see if they could do better on their own (and they probably would have), but they just can't seem to pull away from one another. I dig it. And I definitely dig Silas (are you noticing a trend here?).
Stay tuned for more this week - I have a lot to say about television! What are you watching?
