Wanted: More Summer Television

I meant it when I said I have lots to say on the television subject. My feelings run deep, like a well.  Yesterday we talked old summer standbys, True Blood and Weeds.  I'm going a little more highbrow today with esoteric story lines.  You know, pothead lawyers and teenage gossip girls.



Suits is where it's at.  Two smarty pants embark on a bromance to end all bromances.  They are so pleased with themselves for being smarter than everyone else, and I love them for it.  Harvey is a big-shot lawyer that is bored with everyone else because they can't keep up with his pop culture references.  He takes in the adorable Mike Ross who is the smartest man on earth, with a petty criminal streak.  They both don dapper suits (get it?) and the birth of the Handsome Young Men in Tailored Suits Appreciation League is born. (It's a real thing.  Look it up.)  I spend most of the show worrying that Mike's going to get caught or fired, or that Harvey won't be able to sweet talk his way out of some legal crisis and maintain his pristine moral character at the same time.  It's riveting.



I've mentioned this gem before, but I'll say it again - Pretty Little Liars is fun, end of story.  We're talking steamy scandal, hot boys, and daring apparel decisions.  What's not to love?  So we thought we knew who A was, but what fun would that be?  These crazy teenage girls spend most of their time running around in their crazier heels trying to figure out who is sending creepy text messages (and never once thinking to tell an adult).  Classic plot points, to be sure.  But seriously, aren't these girls worried about towering over the boys when they wear such high heels to high school? Most of their male counterparts haven't hit their growth spurt.  It hasn't seemed to be a problem, but I find it confounding.
